Random eBook Review Day.

I'm psyching myself up for a Blog Every Day month in June. (Apparently I'm only good for this twice a year.) I'm a great one for thinking of things I'd love to blog about while driving, washing dishes, at the gym, walking the dogs, etc., but these ideas often don't make it to the keyboard. Some of the things I'd thought about sharing were the random treasures I carry around on my Kindle.

I like my Kindle very much. I have one of the older style models, with the keyboard on the bottom - 2nd generation? I'm not sure. I may get around to upgrading to the Fire when my financial world is less wobbly, but for now this one suits me just fine. For me the Kindle supplements my book collection. It hasn't replaced paper books for me and I don't think it ever will - I can't, for instance, imagine wanting cookbooks or knitting books in this format - but it's a handy little gadget. I've found some really good stuff that is usually cheaper in e-book format than paper, and a few gems that are FREE.

I'm always interested in new ideas about productivity and goal setting that aren't the tiresome corporate blah-blah. I stumbled across Achieve Anything In Just One Year: Be Inspired Daily to Live Your Dreams and Accomplish Your Goalswhile browsing on Amazon and had to grab it. It's intended to be read in a "chapter a day" format, but I've been enjoying it so much I tend to read ahead. I am doing the exercises and enjoying it very much. I'm only on day 12, so we'll have to wait to see how it bears fruit. It's intelligently written and avoids both psychobabble and magical thinking, and it is giving me some different approaches regarding old habits and issues I want to change.

I think I mentioned this book a year or so ago, but it bears repeating: Networking for People Who Hate Networking: A Field Guide for Introverts, the Overwhelmed, and the Underconnected It's a great supplement to my favorite real estate author's books and useful for anyone who has that nagging feeling that they should be networking more, but freaking hate that stuff.

One thing that surprised and amused me in reading the works of a lot of real estate gurus was how many are very open proponents of The Law of Attraction. I do believe in it though I'm not very good about working with it, and many of the "biggest" books on the subject, like Ask and It is Given were just too woo-woo for me. (Millions of people love the books by these authors, so I think it's my lack of imagination at fault here.)

So what's a girl who believes in the Law of Attraction but finds many of the books on it hard to swallow to do? I stumbled on this book and had to go read everything I could find in e-format by the author: Law of Attraction - How to Attract Money, Love, and Happiness It treats the subject in a clear-eyed, matter of fact way, no magical thinking required. In fact, as I'm typing this I have a sudden urge to re-read it.

And, a free gem by one of my favorite authors: Uneasy Money. P.G. Wodehouse - free! It's laugh out loud funny. Go download it now.
