We did take an hour on Sunday to take the lovely Miss D to see the Easter Bunny in the park. We had high expectations, given the outstanding
Santa, but apparently nobody can be convinced to don a full EB suit complete with head in the heat of a Florida April. What they ended up with reminded me of an older version of Ralphie in his awful pink bunny suit in A Christmas Story. He also apparently had no clue how to hold a baby, or Delaney just went limp in protest. She didn't cry, but she didn't smile either.
I don't have a picture of her little friend Zoe, who sat on the Very Odd Bunny's lap with a priceless expression on her little face. You could read her thoughts: "You people are crazy, this is NOT the Easter Bunny!"
Delaney's brightest smile came after she was strapped back into her stroller.
"Yay! Let's get out of here!"
While Zoe continued to ponder the strange hybrid man-bunny that the crazy grownups tried to pass off as the real Easter Bunny. She was NOT fooled.
My ex-husband was great with kids (he was just a giant kid himself, which is like a whole 'nother email), so one of my friends talked him into doing the Easter bunny deal at her son's daycare. Everything was going great until one of the kids noticed that he had rubber soles on the bottoms of his feet. After he was outed as a fake, the kids still took the candy, but I could see that the thrill was gone and the magic was over. He was over six feet tall, so you can imagine how funny he looked in his bunny suit riding along in my little Honda car. He was really outgoing and loose with the chocolate eggs, so a good time was had by all. That is one of the good things I can remember about being married.

Oh, God, rubber soles were the least of this tragic but earnest bunny's problems. He had to pause to have his makeup (with those weird dark lines that made him creepy) touched up, because it was in the upper 80s and he was sweating half to death. Very few kids opted for the bunny pic - unlike awesome Santa. We were done in an hour, including hot dogs and ice cream. (I did not eat hot dogs or ice cream.)
