Sorry for Blog Silence

I spend too much of my day staring into a computer screen right now - updating and adding to my contact database, customizing documents, shaping my business plan, studying the current contract forms, learning office procedures, and of course, staying buried in the MLS for hours. There is a whole lot of work involved in doing this job if you really want to do it right. And I'm a neurotic geek who has to do it right. I think I've landed in the right office - I like the tools we are provided and love the training opportunities. Tomorrow I'm going to a class on mortgage underwriting, followed by a late afternoon webinar on the latest government steps to help underwater homeowners. And I may be the last person on earth to have found this site, but I was introduced to an adorable video website called Animoto, where you can create 30 second video montages from your own photos for free. (You can subscribe if you want to do longer ones, but the free version is a fun way to experiment.) We were shown an example of an awesome video one of the other agents created for one of her listings - the music was fun and upbeat and not that awful elevator music that usually runs behind such videos, she'd added stock footage of the beach, slides with comments about the home's features, etc. and it was just so much fun, I was stoked. I want to master that software too, so I can do that. My goal is to find time to snap some photos and assemble a practice video on this place, just for laughs - the cat box in the bathtub, etc. And that is my life right now - learn this, study that, a class on this, an online seminar on that, oh, and reach out and touch my personal contacts and stir up business. That, too. I have not knit a stitch since I moved. I do crochet a few granny squares for Supergirl's Blankie 2.0 when listening to webinars. I fall into bed exhausted at 9:30 and wake up at 5. (Mostly because Murphy's meds make him have to pee by then - the clock is set for 5:45, and dammit, I really miss that last 45 minutes!) I make it to the gym 3x a week. I clean the cat box. I grab Murphy 2x a day and squirt the hated pink medicine down his throat. I honestly can't tell how he's doing - he seems okay, but he's not his high energy self, and on this level of pred he should be The Murphinator! Sigh.

Oh, and he needs to see the groomer ASAP. Well, right now I don't think "see" the groomer is the right choice of words. They need to take the top of his head shorter this time. His hair grows straight forward and his eyes started vanishing a week after the last expensive grooming.

She could probably use a toenail trim while we're at it. They aren't that long, but I tend to let them go.

And guess who is four months old, 26 inches long and 15 lbs. 6 oz., and is determined to master crawling ASAP? Yes, that would be the Divine Miss D, who looks like she's already planning which university she will attend on an academic scholarship while playing basketball. Or volleyball. Whatever sports are played by girls who will tower over their grandmothers by the time they are 14.

"Tower over their grandmothers". Check. The beautiful butterfly swimmer has done just that. Mostly looong brown shapely LEGS.
She has just had a most successful swimming meet. She was placed in one of the first two positions in the B finals (reserves), then was moved to the A finals because other girls dropped out. THEN swam such a blazing PB in 200 m Fly that she moved up to 16th, against national and international competition. She had already (in the heats)clocked PB's in Free and Fly.
    Bragging? Aren't I allowed to?

  2. Yes, you are allowed to! I think it's required! I was looking at Delaney's picture and trying to see her as a teenager, and I was reminded of a visit we made to my parents after my daughter had hit her full height of 5'9", and was wearing heels. My father was 5'8" on his tallest day and had lost an inch or so by then. She was standing in the kitchen, and he who couldn't carry a tune in a bucket started singing/reciting "Oh, you beautiful doll, you great big beautiful doll...." I don't think she got it, but I get a lump in my throat remembering. Stretch Pyatt is already on the road to being a great big beautiful doll, and her daddy will teach her to play basketball.

  3. Stretch's mom swam fly as a kid and briefly in high school, before she got lured to lacrosse and then screwed up her ankle. I am in awe of your GD - she's a bigtime serious swimmer!
