I hate Daylight Saving Time. Okay, I guess I don't mind it when it gives me longer summer evenings, but I hate the transitions in spring and fall. It takes me a week to adjust. I have been exhausted by 8 p.m. and awake at 4 for the last couple of nights. This morning I managed to get Murphy to hit his own internal snooze button so we could stay in bed until after 5, and by the end of the week we will all be reset to our normal sleeping/rising schedule, but it takes a full week for my body to adjust. "Just reset the clocks and sleep in an extra hour on Sunday!" my tired ass.
My ass is also tired because The Boxes are GONE! Er, actually they are in the garage hoping someone will adopt them, but they are out of my house. Well, there are a couple of file boxes I still have to deal with, but the Stuff boxes are done. My office is still a mess and there are shoes all over my bedroom floor and those three holdout white cabinet knobs are still staring at me, mocking me, but the boxes are gone. I can breathe again.
I made my first Etsy purchase ever this week. I saw this artist's work in an email from Dogster, and of course had to have the Yorkie picture, because it's too perfect - the attitude and gleam in the eye is absolutely Murphy. (click to view larger and really appreciate) The artist put the "snoring" quote, originally on a French Bulldog print, on a Boston image for me, because Sophie snores like a 12 lb. grizzly bear. Both prints will be framed and hung in my breakfast area. They are too perfect, and very reasonably priced. I was so excited I didn't take them out of their plastic wrap before taking a picture. I'll take another picture after they are framed and hanging on the wall between the windows in the kitchen.
Today is Higgins Day. I'm taking the ancient cat to the vet at 2 - this is an expense I can ill afford at the moment, but it has to be done. He needs a physical, so we can determine whether his weight loss and behavior changes have an underlying medical cause that needs to be treated, or if he's just a crotchety old cat, or (and we must be prepared for this too) he has a condition that CANNOT be treated. It's time to get some answers, and no matter what those answers are, it's time to take him off my daughter and son-in-law's hands.
I'm slowly getting my working life in gear as well - I have an interview with a different real estate company set up for next Tuesday, and starting today I will get back to my online license class. I haven't had time to work on it since before the wedding/baby/move trifecta hit - fortunately, it's a self-paced program so I can catch up fast.
The baby is growing like a weed - she's outgrown newborn sizes and is losing that newborn look. She looks like her Mommy.
Last but by no means least, we have the dilemma of my hair. Trivial, I know, but not when job hunting - then it's a very big deal indeed. I had nice hair in Asheville - I had no problem maintaining the sleek professional bob in my photo. My DiL is a haircut genius, the humidity was low, the water soft. But I'm home again, and "Home Is Where the Humidity Is." (all credit to my daughter for that pithy observation) The sleek bob of Asheville is no more, and a fluffy mess of frizz and waves has taken its place. There isn't enough product in the universe to keep my hair looking sleek in this climate. I think it's time to cut my hair off again. I spent some time browsing "hairstyles for women over 50" and have decided I need to model myself on Annette Bening and let my random waves fly free, and adopt casually messy as a style instead of fighting that losing battle. I am in Florida again, and I am not sleek and well groomed Here, Where the Humidity Is.
So, there's another item for the To Do List. But right now, Murphy wants his long walkie in his new neighborhood, so we will go forth into the humidity for some brisk exercise. Sounds good to me!
Yea! Your 'home' and unpacked! Now put your feet up and have a glass of wine:) Then contact your local U-Haul and see if they will buy those boxes off you.
ReplyDeleteSecond, Those prints are perfect! ("snores like a 12lb grizzly" LMAO!) Can't wait to see them framed & hung.
Third, Baby Girl is ADORABLE!!
And last, check out a virtual hair style websit like p://www.thehairstyler.com/virtual-hairstyler. Back when I was wearing mine short it was so worth the few bucks to upload my photo so I could try on a new style. I'm just FULL of advice today aren't I? :D
I'm glad you said she looks like Allie - because my first thought was "Wow! Supergirl's twin" she and Adelaide really do look like family!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the haircut. I think you'll look super with it.
Yes, Delaney looks a lot like Adelaide at the same age - very much so. Our family genes are strong, apparently! We are already planning the cuteness of cousin pictures.
