P.S. and Granddaughter Tale

P.S. to last night's rant about how I don't go around shoving business cards at people at social events (unless they want them) - if, on the other hand, you are like my first commenter and know of somebody who really might be in the market and might actually WANT to talk to me, that's ENTIRELY DIFFERENT. :-)

Damn, I've talked about work too much lately. I do have an adorable granddaughter story to brag about share. I stopped by my son's place on Saturday afternoon - Babymama was working, so Babydaddy was hanging out with his daughter and launching an afternoon of brewing beer. He had stopped by with Supergirl a day or two before, and caught me between showing a house and a meeting, so we had only a very brief visit that day, but it was a chance to get child and dogs together. We need to do more quickie "drive by" visits to get the dogs accustomed to Supergirl and vice versa.

On that visit she learned the dogs' names, and pointed to each of them and called them by name. Amusingly, she calls Murphy "Murray" - we think it's after the Sesame Street character, and I find this remarkable and amusing, because the description of Murray's personality fits Murphy to a T. She CAN say the "ph" sound just fine, because she has no difficulty with Sophie, or most other words. She's talking up a storm, in two and three word sentences already. She's nearly 2 weeks shy of 17 months old.

She definitely preferred Sophie - Murphy's enthusiasm borders on obnoxious - but she wasn't afraid of either of them. Yay!

So I dropped by on Saturday and Supergirl greeted me when I arrived - "Namaw!" Then looked around expectantly: "Murray?" "Sophie?" I told her the dogs were home taking their naps - but I was very pleased that she actually asked for them, and seemed a bit disappointed that they weren't with me. I'm hoping we are not too far from hanging out at this grandma's house (instead of the dogless grandma's) now and then. But "Murray" still needs to learn to chill.

I could carry on forever with Granddaughter and dog stories, but one will do.

Whenever we were leaving after a visit with Eldest Grandchild and her family, she would start to fuss, and want us to stay.

We only had to remind her that Brutus and Boris (Italian Greyhounds) were all alone at home, and waiting for their dinner.

Solemn acknowledgement of our serious reponsibilities ensued, and we were 'allowed' to depart.

  2. I love it! "They are home taking their naps," (this was just before her own naptime) satisfied Supergirl. Naptime is naptime, and that excused them from visiting her.

"Murray" likes to lick her face is it? How cute she sounds. What a beautiful baby girl.

  5. Yes, "Murray" just can't hold his licker around her. She handled it gracefully, even when he jumped up to kiss her and knocked her on her butt, she didn't get upset.
