Friend and fellow longtime blogger Bess nominated me for a Stylish Blogger Award. I have no idea what it is, and in researching it, I found this amusing blogger's attempt to answer that question. Huffygirl. Sounds like as good an explanation as any.
Suddenly I'm thinking of that famous lamp from "A Christmas Story" and hearing Darren McGavin crowing, "It's a Major Award!"
So, apparently I'm supposed to share 7 things about myself that my vast devoted readership doesn't know? Damn, that's going to be difficult, because I pretty much talk about everything I want to share with the internet already. If I haven't mentioned it here, it's probably none of the innerwebs' business. 7 things, huh? Hmmm....
1. I suffer from vertigo, and anything taller than a 3 step stepladder is enough to make me woozy. (Yes, I do love to hike in the mountains, but somehow that's different.)
2) I despise liver and cannot tolerate lima beans. I can't even be in the room when liver is being cooked - the smell is enough to make me gag.
3) I read a lot of serious non-fiction and biographies, but my secret vice is the audiobook version of the Amelia Peabody series. My one Audible credit a month usually goes to the next volume - #12 is next. I love audiobooks, because I can actually do something useful like clean the kitchen while listening. I am happiest when doing at least 2 things at once.
4) I've always wanted to learn to read tarot cards, just because I find them intriguing, but I never seem to get around to it. It's not like I need another distraction from productive work.
5) My first job was selling ladies designer shoes on commission in a fancy DC area department store. Yes, I was a 17 year old Al Bundy. Yes, it sucked.
6) I make a great lasagna. I rarely make it because it's pretty much a heart attack on a plate, but it's really good.
7) I can't think of a 7th thing.
Okay, now I'm supposed to nominate 3, 5, 7 or eleventy bloggers for this award. (Depending on whose Stylish Blogger Award site you accept as authoritative - authority being a relative concept when nobody seems to know where this "award" started.)
I hereby pass this Major Award to:
My fellow aneurysm survivor Jen,
The artsy and talented Vi
And ditto Jane
Feel free to ignore the Major Award if it's annoying - it's not a chain letter, there is no curse attached (as far as I know.)
So this award is still going around? congrats on being chosen by your blogger friends, and thanks for the pingback.
ReplyDeleteI searched, "stylish blogger award source" and you were one of the top hits - your explanation made as much sense as any out there. It's the leg lamp of the innernets!
