Snowy Sunday.

Those flurries and maybe accumulation of an inch we were supposed to get? Yeah. We woke up to this:

I had no errands I had to accomplish today and the snow sealed the deal - today was spent knitting and watching movies, and periodically coaxing the dogs to join me on brief walkies in the snow.

It was Sophie's first experience with Real Snow (to her knees!) and she was wonderful - at first she didn't want to brave it, but when I walked into it and called her, she bounced right over and danced around, snuffling and exploring.

Murphy rather plaintively asked where a dog his size is supposed to hike a leg when the snow is up to his.... He eventually figured it out.

They've both been pretty good - we keep our trips outside brief, of course, because they are wee dogs and get shivery cold fast.

They've spent most of the day on down blankets on the couch. I spent the day next to them, working on a hat to match the sweater I made for the baby. I swear I'll get around to taking pictures soon, honest! I'm feeling virtuous because I'm using my stash yarn, and I'm really pleased with the results. My only gripe with Asheville shopping so far - it's incredibly hard to find cute buttons for a child's sweater! We have no Joann's (I never thought I'd be missing Joann's) and the store that was recommended as the "best selection in town" had nothing at all appropriate. I did find some purple heart-shaped buttons online that I think will work - fingers crossed that the color will be okay.

  1. The kids look so cute in their little coats! It's been cold here, lots of howling wind this weekend, but no snow. I'm afraid after last year's Christmas Eve blizzard, we're set to be disappointed this year.

  2. Awww! Cute baby dogs :) Gosh, I haven't visited your blog in a while. It's great to see you setting off on your new adventure. Granddaughter looks darling and the wedding pictures were great. I'm doing great and looking forward to Christmas. Take care!

  3. Hi Jen! So weird - I just thought of you the other day, and here you are! I haven't kept up with blogs in a while either, and now want to catch up on yours. I love to read about other people who walked away from one of those weird "brain thangs" - we are a small, lucky club!

  4. We are definitely the lucky ones! I wish I could just stop talking about it, but it still dominates my life in that my skull STILL "ticks" all the time; I'm still tired; I am still not working... But I'm a lot better than I was! Anyway, keep writing - I want to see how you get on!

  5. It took over a year for my energy to return, and even now I have the occasional energy FAIL. My ticking stopped in a couple of months! Yours may be knitting slower for whatever reason. I hope it stops soon.
