October is moving waaay too fast.

Let's see, where are we?

I have a mover's contract and boxes. I am packing boxes.

Sophie is still in heat. I remember from childhood that my father described it as "one week coming, one week on, one week going," but we are ending week two and her girlybits are finally not looking truly alarming, but it ain't done yet. She still has to wear the Spandex and Velcro Pants of Indignity. You can see that she was well aware that this was going to be immortalized on the blog.

I have a dress, shoes, wedding attire. A destination. A mover. A plan to offload the stuff I want to offload. Painting is done, pond removal is done, the fence is fixed and not gonna fall down. But wow, I look at the calendar and just freak out at how it all came down to this last month of frantic franticness.

It's all worth it, I have no regrets at all, but damn, it's crazy.

  1. Poor sweet baby--it sounds (and looks) like she needs a cuddle. You need a cuddle, too, but I think you're moving too fast to get caught!

Excited for you and hoping that everything goes like clockwork....

That Sophie knows too much for her own good. I'm pretty sure she surfs teh innernets while you are not looking. She is going to de-friend you for sure.
WOW - it's all coming together, but man, I do not envy you the crazy making. Just keep thinking how fabulous the wedding will be, how great you will look, and how cool Asheville will be.

    Sorry... couldn't resist! ;)

  6. Why yes Joan, I HAVE been knitting! I just don't have time and brain cells to spare to take pictures, or even think about it. Flat things. I am all about the Flat Things.

I was in a retirement seminar last week, and one of the topics covered was the best and worst 10 states to retire to. I thought of you---South Carolina was in the top ten, and the presenter specifically mentioned the Asheville area.

  8. LOL, this fascinates me for two reasons: 1) Asheville is in NC; and 2) by moving there I am pretty much ensuring I will never be able to afford to really retire! Seriously, it always is on the "best places to retire" lists, not that this was one of my considerations!

I'm SURE he said "Ashville" and "South Carolina"---I wrote it down because for whatever reason, I thought it would be a fun fact kind of thing to share with my dad.

  10. I hope the rest of his advice was better than his geography. :-)
