Doggy Update

For those who care (and you know who you are): I talked to the breeder yesterday. She's out of town at a dog show, and called me while wrangling dogs on pee breaks. She'll be home on the weekend, but would like a day or two to catch her breath. So she said she'll check her calendar and we'll figure out a day next week when I can drive to Jax and meet my potential new little love, and, I hope, bring her home. I'm excited!

Does the Bossy One get to tag along and give you any input? I can just imagine how my Yorkie, who is nine, would feel if I surprised her with a baby sister. I don't think we would be on speaking terms for weeks to come. I have never had a big dog, but I think that my next dog will be a Weimeraner. (I want someone who will be enthused about doing allot of walking.) Do you have pictures of the Boston?

  6. Yeah my Domino who is 10 would not be happy either, not a bit. But I think since your dog has been around Dudley and Boris and other animals, he'll be fine. It will probably just put a spring in his step.

  7. Murphy loves visits from other dogs and mopes when company leaves, and he's never jealous or territorial about me, his food, or anything. (Which is kind of funny, as opinionated as he is!) I expect there will be an adjustment period while they get used to each other, but they are both well-socialized, so I think it will be fine. I thought about bringing him with me to meet her, but that really wouldn't be a fair test - long car trip, strange house, OMG, lots of other dogs! - is not the same as hanging out together in HIS house.

  8. Of all the luck, you're coming to my neck of the woods and I am out of town on business! Hope it works out with the dog breeder and you have a new puppy soon.
