New Yarn Shop!

Holy Crap. This made my week! I am in the Florida Knitters group on Ravelry, and I rarely read it. (I rarely read most of the groups to which I'm linked, unless a topic catches my eye.) Anyway, someone was asking about yarn shops in Orlando, and people named the two I know - and then someone linked to The Knitting Patch. And it's, oh, 15 minutes from my house, and hot damn, it looks fabulous. A later post explained that it is the new location of a shop that was in Mt. Dora, a shop I'd heard of but never visited, because Mt. Dora is a good 40 minutes away and the only time I could get there is Saturdays, and my Saturdays were/are full of all sorts of "keeping the house from falling in" fun stuff during their hours. But if it's 15 minutes away, it's an easy drive-by after the usual Saturday errands. I fear I will love it too much.

Look at the pictures of the shop! If it lives up to the website, I will be a regular fixture there. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning this week - a new LYS that carries All My Favorite Stuff! I haven't been this excited since the first time I walked into Yarn Paradise in Asheville. I'll file a report this weekend. I promise I won't also file bankruptcy.

Oohh that be dangerous. I've even heard of the shop in Mt Dora. Have fun- they have nice lines. We just decided to make an offer on a condo in DC tomorrow and downsize big time, and now I have to get rid of bunches of yarn. It's a grieving process, but I started working through it a month ago when we got serious about looking...

  4. I thought those were prayer flags, and then I realized they were knitted squares. How wonderful! I can almost smell it.

  6. 15 minutes away??? DANGEROUS!! Actually, I now have 2 shops within 15 minutes, but the other, which I will not name because I don't want to sound like I'm dissing them, just doesn't carry the stuff that turns me on. I do drop in for needles and occasionally find a treasure, but it's not an addiction. The owner is an absolute sweetheart and they are very popular, so my opinion should not carry any weight. I am able to resist dropping in there every other week. This one...I'm both thrilled and slightly afraid of this one.

There used to be a quilt shop that close to my house. It was such a nice place, but a yarn shop that close would be divine! Yes, Target first..for the necessities. lol
