Rain, Rain, Rain!

We had a good three days of heavy rain, and I'm not sure it's done yet. I am not complaining, we have been in a drought for what feels like forever, and I can't remember the last time we had rain like this. It was lovely.

Dudley is still at Grandma's (mom goes back to a normal work schedule this week so he should go home tomorrow) and he does not like thunderstorms. At all. And this weekend I realized that he knows when the weather report is on. I caught him watching TV whenever the words "thunder" and "lightning" and "rain" were mentioned. He would frown at the weather map, and look worried, for all the world like he knew what those radar images meant. Scary smart, this dog.

If Grandma was busy at her desk and there was thunder, he had to take shelter.

But he liked it best when Grandma stopped that silly computer stuff and did what grandmas are supposed to do - make a lap for the granddog.

I finally finished painting my bathroom. It has taken weeks. Not because my bathroom is one of those freaking palatial affairs they put in McMansions these days. Quite the opposite - my bathroom is one of those functional and small "toilet and tub/shower behind a door" spaces, too small for even a small stepstool. Painting it required a fair amount of gymnastic ability on my part, standing on one foot on the edge of the tub, crawling on the floor to get the baseboards behind the toilet, etc. It reminded me that I am not in the same shape I was Before Aneursym, and though I have exercised quite a bit in the year since I really have neglected the yoga/Pilates/stretching aspects of exercise. Painting the bathroom has inspired me to drag out the mat and work on getting my flexibility back.

But the bathroom is as done as it's gonna get, is back in service, and I will be very happy to take a shower in "my" bathroom again. The shower head in the master bathroom is ancient, but damn it is powerful. I have missed it, lo these many weeks while I hath been fucking around dawdling.

Speaking of dawdling, photos of the All Season Shawl in Bambu 7 are on the way. Camera battery must recharge. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

  1. What a sweetheart he is. Good thing he has a big strong grandma to protect him from thunderdanger.

We've had rainrainrain too - much needed rain, but it's been cold as well. Not complaining, mind you. Just shivering.
