I just discovered your blog after googling "how to affix a dishwasher to a granite counterop". I just lost my 39 year old husband after a heart transplant operation didn't work (the new heart arrested in a quirk of fate). I have just been skim reading your blog from 2003/04 and I felt such a connection to how you were feeling when people said "Oh, it's going to hit you later on." Or "You are so-o-o-o strong" or equally useless drivel. I too was living with a man who was very sick for 5 years, progressively getting worse until the day of the transplant call, so I feel I'm a little ahead of the standard grieving process. Thank you - I don't feel like such a freak!
I'm on the new blog now. I would have emailed you but you didn't leave an address. Five years with someone very sick - if you don't prepare for the worst, you're weird. For the record, it never "hit me later."
