No Table for You!

So, a week has passed since my little confrontation with Costco.com's unhelpful ecommerce twerp, who was supposed to be looking for the table that never arrived, and today an email arrived instead, announcing a credit to my account. No explanation, no apology from ecommerce boy, but I guess we can assume that they gave up on addressing additional shipping charge with the vendor. So the empty room continues to be empty, and I'm back to searching for a useful sturdy table. But I will not be shopping for it on Costco.com, and I'll think twice about shopping there for any large item that requires drop shipping from a third party.

Heavy sigh....

  1. i'll keep that in mind myself.

poor costco. you know that old thing about telling people about your experience? if you're happy, you'll tell 2 or 3? if you're upset, you'll tell 10? you just told thousands.

  2. Well - that made up my mind not to join Costco. I'll do without the super buying club membership. (I won't do Sam's Club either)

At least they've credited you. Good luck searching for a new table.

I had a similar problem with Office Max and their shipping company. The shipping company wouldn't deliver upstairs including not walking up steps they deemed unsafe to my door to leave a delivery notice. However, Office Max's local employees came out and delivered the item when I called to complain. Good luck!

Bummer. Maybe find a local person to build it?

  5. Actually I LOVE Costco, that is why I'm so bummed by this experience. I think the issue is the third party shipper - you purchase through Costco, they send the order to the manufacturer, and the manufacturer contracts with a third party shipper to deliver. And somewhere along the way things got screwed up, and after a week Costco threw in the towel. The girl I spoke to on the phone was very polite and nice, it was the guy who emailed me that ticked me off with his attitude. But overall, I have no complaints with Costco, I shop there all the time.

  7. That's really too bad. In my experience, Costco is generally a good place. What about Ikea? They're online and they ship. Since you want something simple and sturdy, I think you should be able to find something in all of that Swedish Modern furniture that fits your needs.

  8. I did a little clicking around. This might be what you want. The price is pretty good.
