Who Knew?

That at 48 years old, after lingering in the paralegal pink collar ghetto for a couple of decades, I would actually be allowed to scrub off the Scarlet P? Today I was offered the position I wanted in the company. It had been hinted at and danced around, and I started to think it was just hot air, but today it was offered, and I took it.

I may be staying in FL after all - at least long enough to soak up all I can from my new boss, pay my debts and sock away money, and if it works out, I'm here for the duration. Because, damn. If I move with my current resume, I am locked into the same job I've always been doing and at the same salary level I'm at. And it's okay, but it ain't all that. I am what I am. This is a leap forward, and honestly an opportunity not readily offered to women my age, and I'd be an idiot not to leap with it and say THANK YOU!

Yay! I'm so pleased for you! It's nice to see a boss reward an employee properly.

VP-hood was dangled as a lure for the future, Debi. Whodathunk? :-)Anyway, boss is restructuring the department, and for me it will be a shift from being the person everybody dumps their problems on (including the Cupcakes) to a more structured, proactive management position, and I think a much more interesting and worthwhile position. I told him honestly that I was thinking of leaving, because I was bored and not being used properly (just annoyed with other people's questions, problems and shitwork) and he totally got it, and offered me the non-paralegal, much better position. I'm looking forward to it.
