Because Catherine is an idiot - not the same dye lot. Close, but not quite. The green in the Clapotis-in-progress is a yellow-green. The green in the emergency backup skein ordered with crossed fingers is a less acid green. I actually like it better, but that's neither here nor there.
Huh. You're right. That colourway is very pretty but more muted than I would have expected from the original picture of the skein. Your colouring is rather similar to mine, so you need more saturated/strong colours. I'm still not sure of Tuscany--mainly because most beiges and browns make me look like I died and Tuscany seemed to have a lot of beige. But the other colours in it are much stronger so it may work better.
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine-
ReplyDeleteTruth is the extra skein COULD BE the same dye lot! Handpaints can be that different from skein to skein which is why they suggest using alternating skeins every 2 rows. Carla may be able to send a closer visual match but it may or may not be the same dye lot!
All frustrations aside, it's lovely! And it may not be "your color" but I'll bet with the right outfit it would be very nice.
Also, Tuscany isn't really "beige" as another comment stated....I have some in stash and it more an antique "old gold" than a beige or brown. I say go for the Tuscany :)
The other three skeins match perfectly, so I'm inclined to think dye lot - especially since Carla said she had two dye lots in stock. My fault for not saving the label. The pattern is a sick addiction, I'm sure I'll make another and gift this on someone, maybe for Christmas!
