My other purchase of yesterday

South Beach Diet Quick and Easy Cookbook. Barnes & Noble sent me an "extra 15% off" sticker for one item, so this was my one item. Love it. I've already marked the turkey and white bean chili for today's dinner, using leftovers instead of the turkey cutlets called for in the recipe. One of the gripes with the original SB cookbook was that the recipes tended to be frou-frou - great for entertaining, but a bit much for weekday dinners. The recipes in this book are really 30 minutes or less, and all sound wonderful.

Two blog comments that caught my eye, coincidentally (or not?) both by friends:

Bess wants a Christmas Notebook. What is it about the love of notebooks? I love notebooks and pens, they make me feel all warm and cosy. I can't be without at least two in my purse - one with rip-outtable-pages for lists and such; one for thoughts I want to keep. Time to start a new notebook.

Amie vows to start no new knitting projects larger than socks. Sounds like a plan. Among my reality checks of late is the realization that I don't like, or finish, big projects, especially if they are worked in pieces and need assembly. I get the back and two sides of a cardigan done and I'm sick of the damn thing. Or if I finish it, I procrastinate putting it together. It's not that I can't do a decent seam, I just hate it. I do much better with one piece, seamless projects. I do even better with stuff like socks and baby clothes. Or a flat shawl, scarf or baby blanket - that works, too.

Amie also describes my ideal house - I think that house is in Maine. Pity my job is in Florida.

Today is ME DAY. Yesterday I shopped and baked pies. The day before, I did the whole Turkey Thing. Today I am parking my ass on the couch and watching movies and knitting. I'll go to the gym later this afternoon. Then I'll break out the pedicure stuff and soak my tootsies and polish my toenails in something very red. I'll shape and buff the stubby fingernails after a nice parrafin soak. And watch more movies, and make a nice South Beach turkey chili for dinner. Yup.
