Just for Debi
Because it doesn't look like much at this stage, I give you the latest feather and fan thang - a rectangular wrap in Euroflax Linen, in Eggplant. The most interesting thing about this rather boring Catherine-type project is the dramatic difference it made to go up just one needle size. I did the baby blankie on 3s, and it took almost 3 skeins. I'm barely into the second skein on this project on size 4s and I'm sure I'll have enough yarn. It's not as wide as the blanket, but it's not THAT much narrower. I can't imagine using the size 7s called for in the lace patterns with this sportweight linen - I tried, I didn't like the results at all. It looked like a fishing net in its unwashed, undried state, and I didn't want gigantic lacey holes, just a pretty pattern. I'm happy with this effort on size 4s.

Thanks Catherine, I feel so special:)
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous!! It will be an important item in your wardrobe forever!!
I used #3's on my shawl with the laceweight to get a more open effect of course. I can't imagine sportweight on #7's, YIKES! I think it's just perfect as it is and quite lovely!
Looks terrific! I'm with you - I don't like a very loose lace. I like suitable needle size with appropriate yarn...
