Dudley, checking out the Suri Dream - It's sooo soft, softer than most mohair I've felt. I'm not a big mohair fan, it never feels as soft as it looks to me - but this DOES feel as soft as it looks. Lovely, lovely stuff!

  1. are you going to use the suri to make a shawl? i had ordered some handpainted stuff, but the "painter" has gone on hiatus, and i'm about ready to ask for my money back, and buy something else. this looks yummy!

  2. Yes, it's going to be a shawl. I can't wait to start it, I really love the feel of this stuff!

  3. Weird name - Suri is a kind of alpaca (the long-straight-haired kind, not the puffy-kinky-teddy-bear kind)... is it an alpaca/mohair blend maybe?

  4. No, it's alpaca/wool/a bit of nylon. It's interesting stuff, not like normal mohair where the halo is fairly uniform - Suri Dream is clumpy, with tufts of thicker hair here and there. I feared it would be a nightmare shedder, but it's not as bad as any mohair I've used. But it's not something for a nice uniform "halo" or anyting with detailed stitches - I'm doing the prayer shawl pattern - 3k, 3p - and it barely shows.
