There's more, but dusk arrived before I could take pictures of today's effort - I'm still using Kool Aid, and experimented with combining grape and black cherry for a deep berry effect. Very nice. I also came up with my own method, developed when I neglected the yarn on the stove and found that it came out much better and didn't bleed a drop. It's just like making hard boiled eggs. Put hot tap water in the pot, add your Kool Aid colors, stir it until fully dissolved, add yarn, stir it around, make sure the water is deep enough to cover, bring it to a simmer, turn off the heat, cover the pot and let it sit, with occasional stirring, for at least a half hour, or until the water is clear when you stir the yarn around a bit. It can sit longer, it won't hurt it. Drain, rinse in hot tap water, let it sit until you can touch it without burning your hands (Gloves? We don' need no steenkin' GLOVES!) and squeeze out the excess water, then throw it on a drying rack.
The white Lamb's Pride used for the skeins above had no odor, today's bargain yarn smells like a wet sheep. I have damp skeins sitting on the patio, I need to bring them in to the garage, but I'm waiting until the last minute. Bleh.
I'm so exhausted - we had a 4 a.m. barkfest when Murphy alerted me to the neighbor's cat using the yard as his latrine again. I did not care, but Murphy took it as a personal affront and barked his damn head off at the cat, who, I am sure, finished his business at leisure and strolled off. Murphy kept barking. I couldn't go back to sleep. I am going to bed at 7. I'm serious. I will read and watch mindless TV and if I'm lucky I'll be asleep by 8. Today was a fairly productive day - I did other chores in addition to playing with the yarn - but I am wiped out. Meanwhile, this is how the little watchdog spent HIS afternoon:

He has to rest up, the cat might come back.
