My son's rental house is about 4 miles from here, and he will get electricity back in 3-5 days. Businesses are shut down and trees are down and power lines are down all over the Northwest Orlando/Altamonte/Maitland area. My own area is open and functioning, but as I said, don't take my easy experience as the norm for the Orlando area - as we all said every time we passed each other while doing storm cleanup, we were LUCKY. Very lucky.

Boy feels lucky that the trees fell on the yard/cars and not the house. He can shower and get a hot cup of coffee here before work on Monday if he needs to, and his old beater car was just scratched by the falling tree. About a million people had it far, far worse, so we consider ourselves lucky and unscathed by Charley.
