Apparently Charley is coming this way - though it's a little too early to tell where it's going to be at its worst, we will almost certainly get a good dose of wind and rain off it. Other than picking up potential flying objects in the yard later (bird feeders, patio chairs, Weber kettle grill), I'm as prepared as I can get - got food, water, camping lanterns, batteries, candles, books to read and of course, lots of yarn. The house becomes stiflingly hot and humid very fast if the power goes out, it's torture to hold something like a shawl or felted bag, so it will be time for small, lightweight projects -maybe a charity baby sweater, or even smaller, booties or a hat.
Girlchild will be riding out Bonnie later today - she and her friends will be fine, they are all native Floridians and prepare for these things with flashlights, batteries and beer - it's hurricane party time.
It's too soon to tell if I'll lose power or whether Charley will be an inconvenience or a big damn mess, so I may or may not post again this weekend. At this point I don't even know if my office will be closed or not, I expect that decision will be made later today when we get updated coordinates. Think storm-weakening thoughts for Florida!
