Oh, I see Blogger has added some new bells and whistles - nice! The text editor now resembles a word processing program. I particularly like being able to change colors with ease.  Very cute.

It's a bit hard to try to form coherent sentences, it's been that kind of week and it's skidding into that kind of weekend.  Today I have to go to a client's office an hour a way and sift through project documents all day - I'm not complaining about that, mind you, I love to do it, it's my favorite part of my job, but the thought of slogging down there on a Friday in traffic is another matter.  I'm tired.  I'm stressed.

The new secretary is working out wonderfully, she's fantastic.  She even has a construction law background and is not frightened by our ten layer, fifteen lawyer, we're a fifth-party defendant twice removed on our mother's side level of litigation.  She knows what questions to ask, has a take-charge attitude, it's like she was sent from heaven for us.   She is, however, with us through a temp agency, and even though they are looking at this as a contract position, I'm already placing bets that there will be some moronic administrative reason why we can't keep her.  (I prefer to think I'm a realist, not a pessimist.)

I finally have a patio, and it is lovely.  I still have to find time to go select the tile for it - it's going to have a faux-stone tile surface, and Holy Depot didn't have enough in stock when I was there a week ago, and I haven't gotten back or had a chance to check Lowe's.  But in the meantime, like tomorrow morning, I can put my little cheap plastic chair out there and drink my coffee while Murphy chases lizards, and I admire the dead tomatoes and how desperately the pond filter needs cleaning (very desperately).   But they will have to wait until after I slog across town tomorrow morning to the Geico adjuster.   There has been a change of plans in the car repairs, as my son who knows people suggested a much closer shop that we know does great work (fixed his truck when it was hit by a street sweeper in a parking lot)  to do the work.  Sounds like a deal to me, but it means going to see the adjuster and getting a check and then making an appt. at the nearby shop, rather than just dropping it at Geico's shop.   The rest of the weekend is fully booked with kitchen lighting, back room cleaning, finish assembling the dresser, clean pond filter, dead vegetable garden cleanup, etc.  Oh, and the layer of cat hair everywhere must be addressed.  It's bad.

There are just too many unrelated tasks to do, all begging for my attention at once, both at work and at home, and all I want to do is park my tired butt on the couch and knit and watch movies.  I am not one of those women who gets a thrill out of being very busy and stressed because it makes me feel important or needed or whatever.  None of this is important or exciting stuff, it's just labor that must be done.    I am hoping that by the end of the summer, the home improvement stuff will be done and I can actually relax a bit.  At this rate I should be done just in time for a trial in the northern part of the state in late September.  Sheesh.

Fiber pursuits.  Let's see....  A couple of rows on the All Seasons Shawl - it's coming along so nicely, but the rows are long and my time is short.  A couple of rows on the Manos Lo-Tech Sweat, also coming along nicely.   I'm trying to resist the urge to cast on something else, but I feel the need for a small mindless instant gratification felting project, so I'm thinking an Oregon Tote may be just the ticket here.  Or maybe I need to start some small charity projects.

The new FCEK(AC) - I saw a few things that intrigued me. This may sound silly but I thought the little belt made from sock yarn was cute as hell and may have to try one.  The little cardigan with the tie closure was nice too.  As you can tell, I don't have the magazine in front of me so I can't be more specific.

Since the dog woke me up insanely early this morning, I think I'll use my spare half hour this morning to chase some cat hair or sort some mail.   Happy Friday!
