My turn to wake up way too early, in this case 4 a.m. But I actually felt rested, so I got up, started a load of laundry and resumed lining shelves with shelf paper. What an odious task, but it's finally almost finished. Then I can unload the last of the boxes. Thought to ponder: the standard size of an upper kitchen cabinet is 10 inches deep. WHY is the narrowest roll of shelf paper 12 inches deep?
Last night was girls' night - if you can call it a girls' night when we are all over 40 and get home before dark - but it was fun, if a diet disaster. I'm trying to develop a social life - I'm in a rut. I come home from work and stay in all evening, and don't even do anything very useful with my time. It really has taken me a year of doing nothing to recover from the grueling events of this time last year, but I'm starting to get sick of doing nothing. My goal is to get out two or three nights a week on a regular basis, and that doesn't mean increasing Happy Hour nights.
I was just thinking yesterday that I really wanted to reconnect with my long-buried "artsy" side (there are no artists in my family and pursuing anything creative was scorned as "silly" and "impractical"). One must give up such childish things and grow up and get a real job, you know. So I was thinking random thoughts about doing things I haven't done in years, and sometimes coincidences happen that are too cool to be purely coincidental. My neighbor up the street, mother of the little girls Murphy adores, is a professional photographer. She stopped by last night to see the new kitchen (she's having hers done at the same time and is still living without a countertop)
and to invite me to a little event at her studio tonight - a guest artist/speaker. It's nearby, it's a chance to meet creative people and maybe wake up that long-dormant aspect of myself. It sounds like I can't lose.
The work situation is improving. I'm amazed at how many people jumped on the "This is nuts, we can't let Catherine quit, gotta hire a secretary!" issue and are pushing it along quickly. So this is very good indeed.
A very on target horoscope:
