Kitchen schedule update: Countertop Friday. Dishwasher, disposal and sink Saturday afternoon. Lighting Sunday. Microwave Monday. The only outstanding items will be the extra cabinet and crown molding, which won't be done until the end of the month, but if the other things are done, who cares?

I whine alot about it but it really has come along quickly. And now I have the urge to cook again - for the first time in months. I think I'll be working my way through the South Beach Diet Cookbook once I have a working space again, and I will never take my kitchen for granted again! I cannot wait until it's a functional and attractive kitchen again, I may live in it for a couple of weeks.

Oh, on that subject, I went through recipes my mother gave me a while back and found the to-die-for peach pie she used to make when I was a kid - it's all peaches and apricot preserves on top and my mouth waters at the memory. I will share the recipe as soon as I get my head above water enough to type these things up. Most of the treasured recipes from my childhood are on tattered bits of paper from the 50s and 60s, so I really need to get them onto a CD for my kids, like tomorrow.

Did a few rows on the All Seasons Shawl this morning, I love it. Did a few rows on the Constant Companion bag last night. Also love it. I have named it the No Calorie, No Fat, No Carb Chocolate Truffle Bag - the rich chocolate and the lighter mocha brown look like a rectangle of luscious Godiva chocolate, complete with striped layering. I think it's going to be great. I love the way Cascade 220 felts - it's a fine fabric, not a hairy wooly fabric. Just what I want in a bag.

After I finish these two mindless things and the kitchen is done and I can cook and eat and wash up like a normal human being again, maybe it will be time to start a Shapely Tank in that red Cotton-ease I bought on impulse - like I needed more yarn? I just needed more red, and a red tank I can throw in the wash is ideal. It's Florida, we Sweat here. We don't perspire, and we certainly don't "dew" - we sweat like horses after a hard run. If I'm going to make something I'll really wear easy care has to be a consideration or it won't really get worn. And that's how it is when you live three inches from the sun.
