The dog has Strolled so I can add this random thought - last night's group was no stuffy bunch of Church Ladies, the age span crossed a couple of decades from young things fresh out of art school to around my own age. I don't think I fit in there, not for theological reasons but because I don't have any real urge to paint or draw or even "study art" in any formal way. I definitely would attend other guest speaker events because it's interesting, but it's not "me." I'm a crafter, not an artist. I just like to make stuff. I don't feel "inferior" because of this, it's just a different focus of creative energy. I think we find our own form of expression, whether it's the written word or painting or carving duck decoys, or all of the above. I did realize, while thinking about it last night, that I have no particular interest in working in two dimensions, and the only things that appeal to me are tactile and textural - fibers, beads, clay. I did come away with the urge to do a pottery workshop at San Pedro, but I think they stopped those for the summer, they host a lot of sessions of summer camp for kids and I suspect that uses the studio resources. It's on the to do list for fall.
