My kitchen gets torn out ONE WEEK from today. Tonight I meet with electrician man to get an estimate on lighting. I still haven't found the right lighting and I am hoping he has some suggestions, otherwise I'm putting up another basic fluorescent, and I really don't like them.
I'm watching all the Charlotte-along shawls under way and thinking to myself "They're so lovely, but no way in hell do I have the attention span for that." I read Kerstin's very clear description of how she tracks pattern repeats and began to feel fatigued. And I know that's EASY knitted lace. The Trinity Stitch shawl is perhaps the anti-Charlotte - if you can count to three you can make this thing. The pattern is so easy to memorize, you don't need to tote around any instructions. I can drink a beer, talk on the telephone (with headset) and keep one eye on the television and STILL not screw this up. This is why it is Catherine's Kind of Knitting.
Still haven't started a crocheted shawl - I'm looking at my yarn stash and patterns and trying to decide which way I want to go with it. I want something easy (duh) and lacy. The Donna Kooler crochet book is the best I've ever had - I'm getting turned on by the pattern stitches and techniques. I have a strange urge to crochet flowers. Lots of them. I'm picturing cotton bags with bamboo handles and crocheted flowers. I'm picturing winning the lottery so I have time to make them.
And on that note, it's time to get ready for work. Happy Friday!
