I'm back. The hotel in Miami (the downtown Clarion, for those who may wish to avoid it) was exceptionally tacky and badly run (even for downtown Miami) and was so...seedy, I guess is the most genteel way to describe its bizarre suckage. I checked out yesterday and drove home last night and got home at 10:30. So no Elegant Stitches report on this trip, but there will be other trips.

Miami was so...Miami. Got lost going to the hotel (Mapquest really sucks) got lost going to the document production, sat in endless road work everywhere, I feel like I've been in my car for two days, which I pretty much have. Glad to be home. Today Girl and I will go shopping.

I did crochet quite a bit Thursday evening, because I was scared to leave my seedy hotel room, and swatched a few patterns and shapes. Photos to follow. I'm not all that impressed with The Crochet Stitch Bible. (link in entry below, if you care). The stitch choices are okay, the book is okay and worth having if you crochet a lot, but just ferinstance, it didn't contain a basic popcorn stitch, just variations on it, and some of the variations are overly fussy and complicated. I have known how to crochet a circle since I was about 10 years old and I've never done it in as complicated a way as this book suggests. That pretty much sums up the entire book for me. Stick with Crocheting in Plain English if you want to learn to crochet and master a variety of stitches.

More later, but I need to go unpack and luxuriate in drinking lots of my own good coffee, and crochet yet another critter blanket.
