My Life on the Internet. I've been online a very, very long time - I remember when a 2400 baud modem was bitchin' fast. I remember typing commands on black screens to navigate things that weren't called forums yet. I remember when AOL was a new thing. You'd think I was some sort of computer guru - I'm not. I just learn what I need to know to do what I want to do (precisely like knitting, when I think about it.)

Sometimes I pause to see my wandering Internet path, and I realize that blogs are now my major online entertainment. I really enjoy cruising the blogworld, there are some really smart, funny and interesting people out there. Too many bulletin boards (are they still called that, or am I using a term like "Victrola" that made me snicker at my grandma?) are full of what I call OJC content. That's when you roll your eyes and mutter, "Oh, Jesus Christ." I just had another OJC moment at yet another "Oh, I was watching this movie and somebody in it was knitting!" breathless post. Oh, Jesus Christ, forgive me for what I think when I read these things, but...who cares? Why should anyone care? Why does the person writing this care? Why? I don't get it. Is the writer's brain or the writer's entire universe the size of a small, shriveled walnut? And what is with taking your knitting EVERYWHERE, and fretting over whether it will be allowed? Don't you realize this is really WEIRD? Can't you bring a book? Try a book. Books are nice. Books can even be about something other than knitting. Imagine that.
