Small Bed, Big Kitty.

Big Bed, Small Dog.

Isn't that always the way? Boris makes that little basket creak ominously every time he wedges his enormous ass into it, while Murphy is barely a bump in the big bed. Neither will switch.

After dutifully hauling a trunkload of old clothes and household treasures to Goodwill and sorting through still more for tomorrow's trash pickup, I cast on the shawl pattern in a Barbie doll size, and tried it MY way - decreasing on either side of the center. I concede that the double decrease is better. My way created a gap down the middle. So when I do cast on this shawl - not until at least two things on needles are done - I will follow the pattern as written.

The sun is shining again, the temps are a bit cool, and another weekend bites the dust. I am not off tomorrow (are you freakin' kidding? This is the SOUTH, baby, we don't get federal holidays down here) so tomorrow the work week begins anew. Bleh.

Oh, I was wrong about this week's business travel stalling my weight loss progress. This morning I was down another pound. That makes 12 gone since Dec. 27th. Wheee! Murphy pestered and pestered until I took him on the lake walk today - forget that reluctant little dog who dragged behind and wanted to be carried every hundred yards, now he charges around the lake at a trot, I have to walk faster to keep up. Murphy, like a lot of Yorkies and other toy breeds, has luxating patella ("bad knees") - his are grade 2 on a scale of 1 to 4. It has never bothered him but as he gets older I can expect him to have some problems - but walking seems to be as good for him as it is for me, he has gotten a lot stronger and now jumps higher and runs faster than ever. We will keep up our walking program until I see some sign that it is bothering him, which may not be for many years at this rate. Walking is as good for our four-legged friends as it is for us.
