I did a lot of housework this weekend and the place was looking and smelling good - except for this faint bad odor - I'd catch a hint of it now and then, and couldn't tell where it was coming from. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from until Murphy stood in front of me today. That was it. Small Dirty Dog. He was walking through the house like a small, mobile bowl of foul potpourri, leaving a faint stinky dog odor in every room. So the dog went into the tub, and he's now glorious and sweet-smelling. I've given up on dog shampoos for him, even the pricey ones seem too harsh for his coat and leave it dry and tangle-prone. The answer was Garnier Fructis. His coat is so much nicer now and the matting problem is history. I know that there are dog people who will recoil in horror at washing the dog in people shampoo, it's "wrong for them," but a Yorkie's coat is very much like human hair in texture and composition, it's not like "dog hair" so it finally dawned on me - why was I washing it with a product designed for dog hair that was obviously stripping the hell out of it? So there's my dirty little doggy secret, on the Internet for the world - I bathe my dog in Garnier Fructis, followed by Fructis conditioner. He likes it. He smells good, it doesn't make him itch, and he has no tangles afterward.
Today was a much better day than yesterday. I slept fair last night - not great, but more than 5 hours and didn't wake up until after 4. I'll take it. It rained like crazy this morning, it was dark as night and pouring when I arrived at church. Nearly everybody dressed down because of the weather - it was a jeans and Dockers kind of day, for sure - and one woman really stood out - she was wearing a bright striped sweater with her jeans, (not handknit) and I was suddenly inspired. This afternoon after chores like shopping and dog-wash were done I cast on a Cotton-ease pullover - in the round, the base body color is Banana Cream, the stripes will be thin and Pistachio and Candy Blue. All of the yarn is from the Stash from Hell - I am on a MAJOR Yarn Diet.
The funny part of the color choice is I realized afterward that I'm gravitating toward the same colors in my bedroom makeover - pale yellow walls, blue and pale green bedding. Apparently those are the colors of the year for me.
