The heat pump has been running like crazy all night and I'm sitting here in my felted clogs and a sweatshirt over my jammies, drinking coffee. Our unseasonably warm weather abruptly turned unseasonably cold and damp, and threw in an icy wind as a bonus. Thursday night I was eating dinner outdoors and didn't even need a sweater. I am scratching mosquito bites! I know it's an old wives' tale that abrupt changes in temperature causes illness, but I swear it does do weird things to one's resistance to colds.
I had planned yard work this weekend, but forget that, the wind was unbearable. I puttered around in the house, throwing things out and gathering stuff for Goodwill and/or the garage sale I really need to have. I hate garage sales - I hate the way people show up an hour before the start time and sit outside like vultures, waiting for the chance to paw through bits and pieces of your life. I may just give it all to charity and save myself the headache. The cash would be nice, but the tax deduction will do, and I really don't need to haggle over my belongings with pushy rednecks.
Knitting: no sunshine, no pictures. I untangled the cat-tangled skein for the French Market bag and worked a few rounds of it last night, then went to bed very early. These whirlwind business trips take it out of me, I wasn't as wiped out as I was last time, but I was tired. And I realized that today I need to go to the office! Waaaah! But Boss wants me to go sit in on some hearings on a case (about which I knoweth not jack but as usual he assumes we share a brain) to see what happens. I had no time to prepare for this before I blew out of the office late on Wednesday, was gone Thursday and Friday, and the hearing is at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, and is about 90 minutes away. My only choice is to go in this afternoon and find our copies of the motion(s), do my timesheet, look through the mail, check voicemail, etc. I'm not really complaining because I do get paid overtime, (sound of angels singing) but damn, I'm generating a lot of overtime right now.
Exercise DVD review - Denise Austin's Fat Blasting Yoga. I bought this DVD a while back and put it aside, because I wanted to focus on walking and getting my wind back before adding other exercise - yesterday I put it in after I did my Pilates mat workout DVD, just to see what it's like and tried to follow along, just for yuks. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know "it's not really yoga," and "she's annoying," and I do not dispute the truth of both statements, but I managed to survive the cardio portion of this DVD yesterday after the now familiar basic Pilates mat workout, and I am challenged enough to want to keep up with her. It's HARD - she moves very fast, and you definitely need to know basic yoga poses by heart. I'm rusty, because as I've said, I don't like yoga - I know the basic poses from dabbling in it years ago, but I have never done it regularly. By the time she says, "Mountain pose" and my brain looks through the dusty yoga files to remind me what that means, she's already moved past it into something else. But it was fun to try to keep up, and it definitely left me feeling like I'd worked hard - not sore at all, though. Say what you will about Denise and her endless perkiness, she does know what she's doing. If you actually know and like yoga you would hate this, but I'm determined to master this program, though I am quite sure it won't happen in 21 days.
Today I will make more progress on Bardot.
