Classic post-holiday verse for your enjoyment: Purls Before Swine.

Yesterday's Boxing Day Shopping Madness was most excellent, it was, as a friend calls it, a Shopper's Sky, and all of the planets were aligned in the houses of Bargains and Things That Fit. It got a bit hectic later in the day, but not unbearable, and we scored more than enough goodies to make it worth it. Girlchild scored bigtime, because the poor child has been recycling her high school wardrobe well into her junior year of college, and that just ain't right. She now has some nice date-worthy clothing, stuff besides sorority t-shirts and Old Navy sweatpants. Even though I was not in serious clothing-shopping mode due to the impending bodily makeover, I managed to find a couple of blouses and a cute pair of sandals - yes, we do wear sandals here at this time of year, the temps fluctuate wildly - one day it's 75, the next day it's 45, so the trick is picking the right day to wear the new high wedge thong sandals. These are definitely worth an at-home pedicure and some cute nail polish, so I can wear them to the office. (Not that pedicures are required in my office, but new sandals deserve them, dontcha think?)

Girlchild's scarf turned out most excellent, if I do say so myself:

She's very pleased and so am I. She's on her way home already (has a date tonight) so the hat and fingerless gloves will have to be shipped - and after all her comments about the lack of a Bardot sweater, I am shamed into getting my ass in gear and finishing that one.

New Year's Resolutions - normally I don't bother, but if there was ever a year that deserved to be a clean start, this sure as hell is it. So here's a rough draft of mine - expect some refinement before January 1.

Exercise every day. Mix it up. Try something new.

Get back on the South Beach straight and narrow after indulging in holiday excess. I can feel the effects - I'm bloated, I'm more tired, my body feels like it weighs a ton. I get hungry if I don't eat every three hours. I have headaches. I can't eat crap anymore, and I need to just accept this.

Manage my time better - which means this blog may not be updated as often. I'm thinking right now that I'll update it every other day, and one weekend day will be the fitness confessional. I may adjust that to three fixed days a week, or whatever works. Hard as it is to believe, there are things more important than knitting and writing about knitting.

But blogging is also useful and a tool to keep me on track, so I'm not about to give it up - I have basically no accountability other than to myself, so I could use a third party out there going, "Hmmm, she hasn't mentioned her diet in three weeks, betcha she gave up..." to embarrass me into living up to my own big talk. So y'all are along for the ride, like it or not.
