So, after last night's post, a conversation with my friend who went to Mass with me came back to me - she was supposed to have Thanksgiving dinner with the ex-and-father-of-her-child, but that apparently (and unsurprisingly) fell through. So I called and invited her and her very lively five-year-old. It won't be a quiet dinner now, but it will be more, uh, festive. Do you think it's a bad idea to make a small child a Bailey's milkshake as a "special treat" so she'll nap after dinner? Just kidding...sort of. The last time this child visited Murphy spent the next two days in bed recovering from the excitement - he loves little girls, and little girls who squeal and run around constantly are the best kind, he could follow them around for hours.

So it's 7 a.m., a load of laundry is laundering, general tidying up has been done, Girlchild should be home late this afternoon, yippee! I still need to make a pit stop for the adult beverage portion of the menu, but otherwise I think I am done shopping for this event, thank God. I even remembered the traditional can o' whipped cream for the pumpkin pie. Yes, whipping the cream yourself is "better" but those cans are too much fun. The office is closing early, and tonight will be spent making side dishes and finishing the Booga Bag and visiting with Girlchild, who is bringing all her dirty laundry with her, excited by the prospect of a free washer and dryer at her disposal. She's grown to hate laundry rooms with a passion.

I'm still thinking wistfully about a Kureyon cardigan, but I've decided that this is a fine time to impose some discipline on myself - I must finish the Einstein and Bardot before I buy yarn for another sweater. I'm thinking a "two for one" yarn diet would work - two finished projects from the stash allows one project yarn purpose. Seems to me that over a period of time this would whittle the stash.

I hope everybody has a pleasant and sane and safe Thanksgiving!
