The other day I was Flannery O'Connor, today I'm
Yoda.
Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?

There seems to be a developing theme here. I already feel like the Old Wise Woman at work, one of the young paralegals uses me like Human Google, with a new "How do I?" question every day. The funny thing is, I always know. I don't mind her questions, becoming a sage is one of the fringe benefits of getting old. Sweater Project pointed me to that survey.

So when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping - yesterday I went in early and worked through lunch (thanks to waiting around for an expert who was supposed to stop by at noon and actually came at 3) so I bugged out at 4 and hit Borders on my way home. Stitch 'n Bitch and Weekend Knitting are now mine. (I wanted instant gratification and didn't want to wait for Amazon.) Of the two, I think I like S&B more - it's cute, well written, and contains at least three things I want to make and have appropriate yarn in the stash - the Cowl and Howl and the baby blanket. (However, I'm not making that blanket out of the recommended yarn - Koigu PPPM - that's a bit rich for my blood. ) Yet another legal eaglet has been announced and will hatch next spring - this time it's a pregnant paralegal, and she knows she's having a girl - we're 4 for 4 on the baby girl count now. I need to make lotsa frilly booties.

Weekend Knitting has the feel of a gift/coffee table book, it's attractively photographed, with a strange mix of patterns, recipes, commentary on how to take a bath, I can't decide if that stuff is annoying filler or amusing quirkiness, but it is a pretty book. I like the Berkshire Sweater and that cute little bolero-ish vest, it'd be adorable over a sundress. The felted accessories bag is cute and would make a nice clutch purse, too. It lives up to its title, it's mostly accessories and fast knitting, but some of us really like that.
