Girlchild found a place to live, and I get to pay more money per month and have the privilege of furnishing it too, and she can't even take the damn cat. At least officially - we will wait and see if the pet policy is violated with impunity, as it is at so many student complexes. Many turn a blind eye to indoor cats - considering the number of large dogs, infant squirrels (I haven't had an update on him yet) and 12 ft. pythons in those college rentals, they sure should welcome a quiet middle-aged indoor cat. So the cat may yet move...I dare to dream. But at least Girl will have a roof over her head as of Labor Day, which means she only has to spend the first week of classes living out of her car and crashing at friends' houses, while working long hours. Piece o' cake. Sheesh. This is starting off to be an interesting school year, fer sure - Boychild no sooner gets himself settled someplace he likes when Girlchild's plans crash and burn. But she regrouped, and she knows people who lived in this complex and liked it, and her friends are right nearby, etc., so it should be okay. Mom just prays and pays the bills.
I'm spending money like a drunken sailor, paying bills and settling out accounts, and now I have to spend unexpected buckage to get the Girl some humble furniture on which to rest her royal hiney. Isn't it always the way? You think you might have a few dollars left over and something promptly comes along to eat them. She told me to go ahead and do the kitchen for her to save us both time, so I will hit Target and pick up the dishes I saw on sale, etc. etc., and at least I will be able to have a cup of coffee when I am there on Labor Day weekend, laboring to get her settled in. And screw the pet policy, Murphy is coming with me. He weighs 7 lbs. is on flea control and has had all his shots, and is much better behaved than any college student and much smarter than the football players. I figure I will be there 3-5 nights a year, they can deal with it.
I need to increase my caffeine consumption. Yes, you read that right - most people talk about how they need to cut back. I need to kick it up a notch, so I can find the energy to do everything I have to do at home in the evenings after getting brain-fried at work all day. I figure a pot of half-caf after dinner and I might be able to tackle more chores around here, and maybe stay awake long enough to sit and knit for a half hour, too. I'm going to try that tonight.
